Community Engagement

Lucas Fisher

Lucas steps into a community engagement role for Camp Words Unspoken and on the Speech team. Lucas is working on becoming a certified Speech Language Pathologist assistant at the University of New Hampshire. He is also a person who stutters and hopes to bring his insight to the clinical field. For the past four years, he’s been working in the healthcare field as a one-on-one support aid in a mix of settings. From a nonprofit that works with adults with autism, in a school setting as a paraprofessional to an assisted living facility for the elderly.

Lucas grew up going to summer camps so to be able to cultivate a positive camp experience like it was for him and to give back to the stuttering community was a no-brainer to be a part of Camp Words Unspoken! In his off time, he enjoys playing volleyball, running, and reading in nature.

A favorite quote of his: “We don’t have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.” - Howard Zinn
